LEWIS, Iowa - A rough winter season may lead to an opportunistic spring fishing season for catfish anglers.
Fisheries Biologist for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Bryan Hayes explained to KXCV/KRNW that snow covered ice conditions cause "fish kills" due to lack of oxygen, but catfish take advantage of the situation.
Hayes adds that you should fish on the windier side of waters, because that's where the dead fish and warmer waters will accumulate.
